Odometer display is "stained", can it be replaced? What is the replacement part called? 2001 Civic.?
I have a 2001 Civic EX and the odometer/tripometer has a large black blot in the middle, which makes the 5th and 6th digits difficult to read on the odometer. Originally it was smaller and didn't cover the 5th digit, but has gotten larger, and I suspect will continue to do so. Is there anyway to replace just that one display, or would I have to replace the entire instrument cluster?

The odometer display can be replaced separtely however by the time you took the instrument cluster apart to try and replace it I'll bet it's cheaper to just buy a used instrument cluster at an auto recycler. The display is likely too expensive at the dealer where you'd need to order it.

This is the instrument cluster lens. You could add some pictures. I am guessing the lens layers are separating causing a splotchy area.
Do some more research online, look for Honda Forums. If the lens is shot then you need to remove the cluster and replace the lens.
In some cars you can still drive without the cluster. check on that topic for your specific car.
I would send it off for professional repair.
KEY POINT - KEY POINT - KEY POINT --- you do not want your odometer to be reset to zero. That will devalue the car as you will have sell it with NON-ACTUAL mileage on the title disclosure.
Call this company or a similar one.

you have to replace the entire cluster. Search for instrument cluster rebuilders online. They're usually in better shape and cheaper than units from the junkyard
