Did you ever dream about someone new that you had a strong connection with?
I recently dreamed about having a child and the connection was strong only to wake up and learn it was only a dream. I named the child after I woke up so I wouldn't forget him.

Maybe, you are working on something in your life, and it is a new and important endeavor. That could be seen by your brain as a "child". Nuture this ideal and make the things happen that are important to you, in your life.
But, then again, younger women do have strong reproductive feelings and you just might have been feeling the importance of children in your life, and projecting what it would be like to have a child. Maybe, that name will be the name you will use, if you have a child, in the future.
Regarding another question you have about our soul/spirit traveling while we are dreaming: I don't think so, because dreams often occur at a different time of the day, even when we are dreaming directly of being in the same place/environment. I don't think the time of day would change: Suppose you dreamed of being in your backyard and it was daytime in the dream. But, you were sleeping and it was actually night time. That just doesn't really make sense to me.
Dreams are your brain's attempt to work through the challenges, dreams, aspirations, and other things, that happen in your life. Often, we are too caught up in details to truly work through these things, so the brain continues to work through these things without the interference of the conscious mind.
