Couldn't hurt, I'm serious. I know you read all this crap about interviewing, it's just that crap. Answer the questions and be sincere and don't be afraid to offer up information. Case in point, my job. I got out of the service and knew a little electronics and went to interview. Along the way I mentioned that I had fixed my grandmother's cuckoo clock when I was 8. I didn't get the electronic job but I got a mechanical tech job which is really nice and in my comfort zone. If I hadn't mentioned it, I may not have a job.
