How and where do I play online poker for either real money or prizes?

    If, US, then none since illegal since 2011. (Black Friday).

    I was playing on Poker Stars since 2006 and prior to Black Friday and other sites closed down, continued to play with "real" money, till that day when it was official, that my account had been shut down for good.

    I still play on Poker Stars, but it is only "play" money, so enjoy it even if no gain.

    Over the years, have "heard" there are sites that will allow US, but personally would not sign up, and take a chance of not getting/losing funds.
