Is It OK to have friend that not my age?

I have a friend is 12 year old and I am 14 and we are really good friends I haven't seen her in a while it been like 3 months that I haven't seen her so I ask her do you want to go to the water park with me and she said yes so we went swimming and the next day my mom start yelling at me and said you need to stop being friends with her because she is not your age and I was like you want me to stop being friends with her because she younger then me that stupid usually you stop being friends with someone if they're were being mean to you or using you or something not because she younger then me

Yes, it's totally okay! When you get older you realize that age is just a number and age difference doesn't really matter. If you both are truly good friends maybe you should try to sit down with her and talk to her about your age difference. But, if this is a good friend, you can't let the age difference get to you:)

She probably doesn't want you to get in trouble if her parents or some paranoid person thinks you're influencing her for the worse simply becuase you're older. That's why your mom is probably worried.
