I use to sell lottery while in college in Boston. I noticed the 2 dollar tickets did better than the 5 and 10 dollar tickets. 1 dollar tickets were completely worthless. But this was over 10 years ago and now there are 20 and 30 dollar tickets. But I use to tell customers the best tickets were the 2 dollar ones because I saw more big wins from those than from the 5 and 10 dollar ones. a 10 dollar book of tickets often only had 1 100 dollar ticket.

I won more money in Vegas playing poker and blackjack.

As for numbers games, there are a wide variety of games with a wide variety of odds. Most are higher than 1 in 7.

By the way, you need to be more specific what you mean by "winning". I could "win" on a scratch ticket with a 1 in 3 chance, but I might only "win" back my 1 dollar that I already spent. Is that winning?
