What is with camera operators? With everyone having a led tv today there is no need to zooming in and out.?

I first noticed this with the NFL. With everyone having large screen led televisions today why do networks think that there is a need to zoom in on the ball or puck? During an NHL game I would rather see the the complete zone instead of 1/3 of the zone where the puck is. I want to see what the men at the points are up to also. TheNFLdoes the same thing our tv s are big enough to see more of the field or ice

    Because people are used to the closer view and in general like it more(or don't like change).

    Brainiacs at the networks thinking up new ways for us to enjoy the game. A lot like the idiots in government.
