Why is my nephew, who is almost 4 months old, cranky same time every day?
I know tonight as I rocked him harder then normal, he would scream until he was read as he passed gas. Normally I just try and console him but tonight I paid attention to what really was going on. He was asleep and then randomly sprung into crying, screaming action. Changed his diaper, he ate like 8 ounces 2 hours ago (normally max has been 6 ounces) so I knew those weren't the problem. And he was consoleable about 45 minutes later. Normally it takes a good hour to a hour and a half but mommy usually deals with him at the "witching" hour. Is it gas? Just a phase? Help it breaks my heart to watch him hurt.

Because he's four months old. It's totally normal for him to have a "cranky" time of day at four months old.

maybe the formula he is on disagrees with him? or he could be teething. take him for a walk and see if you can distract him from crying

Try googling doing exercises for him to relieve gas. Otherwise, he may be OVER tired, and in that case, if you are trying TOO hard to console him, you may be actually KEEPING him awake when he's ready for a nap. Babies are hard, huh?
Keep very quiet, still and dim the room. Gently rock him, dont talk, walk around, change position frequently, or otherwise stimulate him. Try first to relieve gas, then try to get him to sleep.
He could also be teething...
