A droplet of oil carries an extra charge of one electron and is held motionless between parallel plates separated by 0.92 cm across which there is a potential difference of 58.0 kV. What is the mass of the droplet?

    The electric field E=58/0.92.

    Say it is held at the height of h from the plate, then

    mgh = e E h

    m = e E/g=0.064*10^(-19)*10^4=0.064*10^(-15) kg= 6.4*10^(-17) kg
