How far from a 35.0 cm focal length lens should you put an object to get an upright image magnified by a factor of 1.72?

    Look at that other answer I gave you

    You know that |hi/ho| =| di/do| = 1.72 / 1

    Sound familiar?

    Bu remember for a virtual image the image is on the OPPOSITE side of the lens

    Hence di = - 1.72 do

    Again we have di, do and f so we would use 1/f = 1/ do + 1/di

    = 1/ do + 1/ ( - 1.72 do) = (1 -1.72) / ( - 1.72 do)

    -> f = -1.72 do/(1 - 1.72)

    Can you take it from here?
