So why F does Yahoo decide, arbitrarily, to place a question in a different category than the one you origionaly choose?

I like to play a little game with questions that are clearly on the wrong board. I try to figure out what word or phrase meant they were posted where they are. Sometimes it's easy--the words field or base can land a question in baseball, for instance--but other times I have no idea.

(((AG))), As you can see from most of the answers here, it's mostly being blamed on Level 7 users moving questions hither and yon. Y!A's algorithms have always done this to some questions when the algorithms get a bug up their butt, no matter where the original category was. However, unlike most here, I think that the ability to move questions to another category is a good thing and I do not abuse the privilege. There is sometimes good reason to do so, especially to people that hide behind the Anonymous status using it to "hide" their identity and post abusive and disgusting questions. They know that Yahoo knows who they are, but they think responsible users won't work against them due to their anonymous status. I'm here to tell all of you that doesn't work with me. -Auntie Kookoo

Yahoo doesnt. Its probably a level 7 user who is moving it as they have the right to do.Sometimes correctly and sometimes not.

It's not Yahoo, it's the Level 7 bozos abusing their privilege allowing them to change question category.
I recently answered a related question and got Best Answer for it.

Too many responders fail to actually read the questions they're responding to. Some of the responders here are assuming you didn't choose a category upon posting, although you clearly state that you do.
What happens is that Level 7 users have the ability to move questions to different categories. This was a power granted in a much-maligned update in 2014 that some Yahoo responders actually lobbied for, but which most serious users here now regret because it is much abused.
My suggestion is to continue to place your questions where you think they belong, but also add a tagline like: "This question was intended for the 'Yahoo Answers' category. Please return it there if you find it somewhere else." You have the ability to move your own question back from where it might have been relocated to (look under the Edit button), but leaving this tagline might also enlist the assistance of the more mature Level 7 users too (there are a few of us left).
Good luck.

Because, they think most people who use Yahoo Answers (especially these days) are dumb and can't chose the appropriate category themselves, so whatever key words you include in your question it will go into the category based on them.
You have the option to move the question into a different category, but this does not stop level 7 members from moving it again and again.

Key words can make it change categories, they figure since level 7's can move them then it is a good idea.
