i did, with an african grey parrot... i had her for 12 years (i inherited her, did not purchase her)... she was my sidekick, my proper pal, i brought her everywhere with me (to work and everything)... she always had free range of my home when i was home, except for nighttime of course... i loved her so much, still love her... i could look in her eyeah and we would be like "yeah" --- read emotions...

she became ill, i took her to several specialists, did everything i could, but she passed away, in my arms... it was one of the worst moments of my life... i have never had such a close connection, to a non-human creature... (and i have always had animal companions, cats, dogs, horses)

i still mourn her numerous years later... although i do still feel like the energy of her (as you term it, the spiritual connection), the creature that she was, shall always be with me...

someday i hope do adopt another older african grey parrot, and even if we do not have that connection, help a parrot that needs a loving home...

Yes, Christmas of 2005 was the day I met my angel. Sophie is a Golden Retriever/Beagle/Chow Chow/Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever/Red Wolf/Pomeranian/Corgi/and-a-whole-bunch-of-other-breeds mix. I got her when I was five and she was a couple days short of two months. Now I am 16 and she is 11 and still puppyish. She is my best friend. My silver and my gold, my pride and joy, my friend when I was alone, my guide in the longest night, my Golden Girl. We aren't owner and pet or just pet mommy and baby. We are a team, we are comrades, partners in crime, companions, yin and yang. We're not one without the other. We were meant for each other. Fate brought us together. DESTINY brought us together. We participate in AKC Dog Agility, and have competed a few times. She's not perfect. She has flaws, but so do I. And that's what makes her perfect. She is the world to me. And I KNOW that I am the world to her. Our bond is almost an empathy link. She's the only one who will ever understand me. When I die, my sole request is to be buried with her ashes. Not even death will separate us. Our souls will remain together for all eternity.

When I was 3 years old their was a black cat he showed up on our prorch I claimed him as mine and named him Blackie even though everyone else said he wasn't mine he wasn't named Blackie I knew better though I knew we were meant to be He would follow me around and put up with my roughness I was only 3 Then a year later he disappeared I searched for him every day We moved when I was 5 halfway across the country and I had a dream the first night in our new home

Blackie was sitting on a tree branch in a park He was old and grey I could tell he'd been through a lot he's been traveling he was coming back to me

Years later I stilled believed that Blackie would find me I was 14 alone with no friends when a black cat showed up in our porch I knew in my heart that it was Blackie This cat was young maybe 2 years old But I knew that somehow Blackie had come back in a new body to be with me

Call me crazy but I believe my cat reincarnated to be with me he died last winter and I had the same dream

I definitely do. My mom always told me, "dogs pick their owners".

My first Dalmatian picked us. She was scared of men due to her previous owner, but when my dad walked up to her after she growled at the man before him she wagged her tail. I still remember the first day we got her in 1997. She lived till her and I were 16 and proved every "Dalmatian theory" wrong. Great with kids and everyone, and I truly believe she lived her time down here for me but she is my guardian angle. A week ago I was looking at pictures of her and started feeling sad. The next morning I woke up and saw a beautiful boy Dalmatian for sale in my parents town. (Those dogs are VERY hard to find where I live). I knew from the moment I saw that picture that was my dog. This week I've fallen so in love with him and what makes him even more perfect is my first dog sent him.

I have had quite a few dogs over the years and they all hold a very special part of my heart. The same applies to my sons who have lived with a few of them. We set ourselves up to become desolated when we lose them.

That would have to be my pet mouse 'Yogi'.

I raised him from an orphan the last week before his eyes opened and by then he knew me as mama and trusted me to all ends. When he wasn't sleeping or playing, he was with me, in pockets, on my shoulder, or just sitting in my hand being petted, like we were inseparable.. Had a lot of pets that shared a close bond, but just not quite like Yogi.

My first fur pet so that meant a lot.

"Walker" and I were kindred spirits for 12 years. I took him in as a feral dog after he was rescued on '''kill day''' at a nearby Indian reservation.

When I took him in most feral behaviour disappeared and he became my constant companion. And we were good for, and to, each other. "' Walker"' died a few weeks ago with my hand on his ribcage as he exhaled his last breath and his heart stopped. I seriously doubt I'll ever have another dog of his calibre or character.

    R.I.P. Olde Friend.

Yes, I had a dog that was my "heart" dog. I know I'll never have another dog like her. She was so special, smart, obedient, and seemed to know what I was thinking. She was perfect in every way. I currently have a tiny cat that I love like no other cat I've ever owned. I can't imagine life without her. I dread the day she gets old. I know she can never be replaced.
