Has the fast food industry been the cause of America’s obesity epidemic? Will America change their food/drink portions within the industry?
Just want to know the main causes and good sources that will explain why americas obesity rate is high. I have seen stories about america s cup sizes for drinks in fast food restaurants are ridiculously large.

You have to make that judgement call for yourself---based on:
A) Your diet plan--how many calories do you aim to intake each day?
B) How disciplined are you at NOT going far or too far your daily calorie limit goal?
C) Are you equally disciplined to FOCUS on the nutritional information about EACH particular food item(s) you intend to enjoy. The FDA now requires ALL fast food and restaurant businesses to provide nutritional data on ALL their menu items.
D) How disciplined / committed you are to following a daily dedicated exercise work out plan?

It is not just fast food. Serving sizes in almost all restaurants are huge, and we rely on restaurant food much more than we did even 20 years ago. And that has spilled over into home cooking and dishes and glassware. Compare for example the new wine glasses to those older ones in thrift or antique stores, not to mention plates and bowls.

while it is likely part of the reason, it doesn't get all the blame. sloth and alcohol get part of it

No one is forcing them to eat at fast food restaurants, the blame lay solely on the lazy people that want to sit on their ****.
