"Whack fol my daddy-o." It's the title of an old Irish rebel song, written by Peadar Kearney and famously recorded by Liam Clancy of the Clancy Brothers in 1959; the proper spelling is "Whack Fol the Diddle".

It's a turn of phrase that is literally meaningless but has a good sound to it.

They don't mean anything - they're just nonsense sounds. That sort of thing was quite common in rock n roll songs of the fifties and in quite a few trafitional British songs. Maybe there were originally actual words to that part of the song 'Musha ring domma dumm etc." But they are LONG since forgotten.

The song is a LOT older than a 100 years and is based on an even older song. It first became popular in 1968 when The Dubliners had a hit with it.

Don't know. One of the best Thin Lizzy songs ever. I think "Whiskey in the jar" is a old traditional Irish song. So don't read into it anything to do with sex or drugs in the words.

No idea, but it's a great song...I fcuking love Thin Lizzy. BTW...it's Thin Lizzy with a "y", and it was Metallica who covered the song in the late 90's not Pearl Jam.
