How to hang large flag on wall?
I recently got a 5x8 ft cotton American Flag, which was flown over the capitol. I want to hang the flag horizontally on my wall. The flag is very heavy and I don't wan't to put holes in or ruin the flag. Any ideas? Thanks.

Have it framed by someone who knows about framing and how to insulate the flag from getting moisture on it as moisture will bring mold and the flag will deteriorate. Hanging it by itself on the wall will bring dust and make the flag look soiled over time. You are fortunate to have such a sought after flag, so take very good care of it. The flag is heavy because it's made to last a long time as it blows in the wind so it won't fray at the edges. I think framing it under glass may be the best way to keep fingers off it were there not to be too much humidity allowed to get into the inside of the frame by the framer using the right materials to help keep humidity from entering. Be suspicious of a framer who tells you it's okay not to put it under glass as that framer doesn't know the business of framing. You may have the choice of what glass to use. I suggest using a clear glass rather than a frosted glass, but you are the judge of that when you're able to view the flag under both types of glass. I wish I had such a flag to hang next to my Peter Max signed acrylic art depicting the standing liberty, the liberty head, the American flag and a heart, which is part of the Peter Max Patriotic Series. This would be the ultimate for me to have in my collection of art. I am a patriot and I think you are as well. When I read you don't want to put holes in the flag, that told me you hold the flag in the highest regard and respect the flag. I wish there were more people as you who respect the flag and what the flag means to this nation. I salute and thank you for protecting this special flag. A former U.S. Marine (1957-1963).
