Blu-Ray is a DVD manufacturing process that provides somewhat higher resolution than a standard DVD. Essentially, more detailed information about each image is recorded on the disk.

A regular DVD will play on a Blu-Ray machine, but a Blu-Ray DVD will not play on a regular DVD machine.
