About computer programing?

So my school offer COP 2210 (computer programing I), ans I'm really interested. But, my degree requires me to take COP 2270 (C for Engineers). When I looked them up, I didn't understand the description of both classes (they used programming jargon). I know I should talk about this to my advisor, but they're all in a meeting all day long, all I can do is wait for her email or set up an appointment.

My question is, if anyone here has taken either of these classes, could you explain in detail what is the difference between the two? I don't wanna end up taking the same class twice

You know how there is PHY2054 (trig) and PHY2049 (calc), that's why I'm being careful.

Thank you

    here is what it says:

"A first course in programming geared for engineering and natural science students that describes the syntax and semantics of ANSI C programming language. Includes developing algorithms and writing for problems in engineering and science."

nothing hard to understand about that...

If you are having trouble with that programming is not for you...

You do know that you can ask another day don't you?

You might have mentioned which "my school" you meant. All the early hits for "COP 2210" are for Florida International, but COP 2270 also has hits from Miami-Dade.

The FIU catalog lists COP 2210 as a 4-unit class in computer science using "a structured programming language." That say almost nothing, but does so in a very official way. One professor's course page talks about object-oriented programming in Java, and that's a detail you can use for comparison--if indeed you are considering taking it from someone named Shaw at FIU.

I can't find anything live on COP 2270 on the open web, except the FIU catalog listing that says 3 units of C for Engineers. That (3 units, and "for engineers") sounds like it will have the computer science didactics dialed down a bit for students who are probably not going to have programming as the principal focus of their careers. For one thing, C is not an object-oriented language, so you'll miss an introduction to object-oriented programming. If you're not going to be working with large-scale software systems as a developer, you're not missing much.

I'd suggest taking the C course first. If you find that coding comes easy for you, and the 2210 course does turn out to be Java and OOP-based, AND you are interested enough to spend 4 units on it, then look into taking the 2210 course later.
