I'm 19 and haven't dated anyone?

It's sort of stressing me! maybe I have an unrealistic image of what it should be like when you're dating someone by unrealistic I mean I want things like you see in the movies etc. I also feel a little left behind with how almost everyone I know has had some sort of relationship except me. My standards aren't unattainable either, I've just never been past the talking stage with someone. I don't know if I'm rushing to find something but I feel like I've been patient and am willing to continue to be patient. I've recently been faced with the question of "Why aren't you dating someone?" and I honestly don't have a reason as to why. At the same time I also see things realistically that things can't be like the movies and I accept that. It's just all of the guys I've talked to that I'm somewhat mildly interest in, aren't even interested in getting to know me. I start to see all of these things as a sign that I'm not meant to be in a relationship even though I want to at least experience something more.

Don't ever be in a relationship just to be in a relationship. Sounds like you are a romantic if you want the type of fairy tale love from movies/books. Not a problem you just need to keep your eyes peeled for a guy with a similar idea of love. Being that a big chunk of college age people are part of a hookup culture it makes it a little harder these days. Not many guys will admit to wanting that type of love out of fear of being judged by other guys. It's a shitty stigma but there are guys like that out there. Keep doing you, it sounds like you have your head on straight.

  • It's not a contest or a race. Don't be afraid to go on a first date with someone (it can be having lunch or coffee- the whole point of a first date is to decide if you want to go on a second date). If it doesn't go well, then it's not a big deal (live and learn).

Everything in life happens for a reason. You must wait for your time. I believe the lesson in life here is patience. :)
