Silicon tetrachloride reacts readily with water:
SiCl4 + 2 H2O → SiO2 + 4 HCl
Beryllium chloride is a Lewis acid. It hydrolyzes, evolving hydrogen chloride:
BeCl2 + 2H2O → Be(OH)2 + 2 HCl
Note the higher amount of HCl produced by the SiCl4.On a molar basis I expect SiCl4 to be more acidic than BeCl2
