If I prioritize others over my own family, does that make me a good person or a bad person?
In the fictional scenario, I did give a small fortune to the needy, but I failed to take care of my own daughter. This means that I am possibly more generous on average that an average person, and that I might not clearly distinguish between friend, family, and stranger when giving help.

I get it. You don't like foreign aid. The reason we have done that historically is to keep other countries favorably disposed to us, so that they don't join up with our enemies. So a better analogy might be, would you sacrifice putting locks on your doors to give your daughter $20?
Foreign aid is a very small portion of our budget. Military costs are a huge portion.

if not, for my viewpoint, after they are 18 and if they refuse help, refuse to help themselves, there is nothing you can do for them. Until they choose the pick themselves up, there is nothing you can do for them.
