With Universal basic income now becoming the norm, is it fair to say that capitalism has failed and that Marx was right?

FALSE PREMISE! Universal basic income is NOT becoming the norm. And Cuba and Venezuela and the failure of the Soviet Union are proof that Marx was wrong.

Right now we have a shining example of socialism at work. Check what is going on in Venezuela, then tell us again how bad capitalism is.

Universal basic income is certainly not becoming the norm. The existence of widespread poverty and foodbanks show that capitalism has been unable to deliver decent living standards for all.

Yes. But the capitalists are not doing it out of the kindness of their hearts. They are doing it because they need to expand. Marx might say that department one needs to expand so as to let department two expand in turn. There is no doubt that capitalism is finished. It is a failed mode of production which must run from its contradictions. Though, with the credit as a form of artificial inflation they were able to last longer than they would have. Capitalism, for those of us who are well informed, is finished.

  • Yes. My professor told me that our problems are caused by our capitalist system of greed and exploitation, in which the rich steal from the poor and hold all political power. Without socialism, there will be no equality. He said the only way to repay the national debt is for the government to redistribute the wealth and increase spending to stimulate economic growth. He is right, as always.

No, it's not fair, it's hallucinatory, as is the claim that whatever you think 'universal basic income' is is a norm.
