Basketball: In light of the Warriors'' blowout win vs the Spurs, what's the farthest a team went without their best player/s playin?

I remember the Bulls after their first 3 -peat, and MJ goin for retirement, Chicago became irrelevant.

Also the LA LAkers after Shaq left in 2005, they too became kind of dormant. And the Heat when LBJ left, and many more kind of scenarios. Thoughts amigos?

The Knicks won the 1999 ECF over the Pacers after Patrick Ewing went down in game 2 of the series. The teams were 1-1 at the time, but the Knicks closed it out in 6 games, then lost to the Spurs in the championship round. Of course, that whole season was screwy, it was shortened due to a lockout, and the Knicks also became the only team in NBA history to win their conference championship as an 8 seed.
