Does anyone boil corned beef before cooking it?

Corned beef is on sale and I have had good success rinsing and soaking the meat for a while to leach out some salt.

One recipe said to put the meat into a pot, cover with water and bring to a boil. Drain, then pat dry and into the oven/crock pot.

I assume the boiling is to remove the salt.

Does anyone do this?

Just put it in the slow cooker on low with all the ingredients and the right amount of water and leave it on low all day or at least 3 or 4 hours. You should not boil it.

it all depends on what I want to use the corned beef for as to whether I par boil or soak in water before putting it in a recipe. If it has a huge amount of salt in the meat, yes, it needs par boiled. Most of the salt will be removed this way.

No. I put it in a pot, put enough water in it to cover it, and bring it to a boil. When it comes to a boil I turn it down to low and cook it an hour for each lb. It always turns out well.

I boil mine before eating it!

I marinate it (corn) it about three weeks, then freeze, or boil it. I boil about 1-2 hours a pound, then let rest for a while. Then enjoy!
