What are your thoughts on the girl name Allira. Its an Aboriginal name meaning quartz crystal. Im Australian (not Aboriginal). Its pronounced Ah-leer-uh.

    I'm Aboriginal.

    I haven't heard it before (then again, there are 100's of Aboriginal languages). But I like it.

    I love the name but I'd be super hesitant to give a non-Aboriginal child an Aboriginal name. We've already stolen enough from them, they don't need us taking their names too

    Aboriginal names are so interesting. I've no idea about how the aboriginal population feels about non-aboriginals using their names or how non-aboriginals feel about the matter. The name itself is fine, but I would hate to give you the wrong information on actual usage. In the US, it is considered appropriation, but that doesn't mean it isn't done.
