Why am I getting screen tearing?
I recently got a asus vg248qe and the screen is tearing in games that I get over 60 fps in when I turn v-sync off.

If you're under 144 FPS and not at exactly 72, 36, 18, or 9 there will be tearing because not every frame is on screen for the same amount of time. If you're over, there will be tearing because frames may get blended into each other and the monitor could show multiple partial frames at the same time. The only way to fix this would be to use a G-Sync or Freesync monitor and cap the FPS to 144.

Turning off Vsync is what causes that tearing... Your video card and monitor combination cannot handle frames that do not sync fully with the monitor...
