What type of sandpaper should I use for hard plastic?

I need to sand down the corners of pieces of hard plastic. What type/grade should I use and do I need more than one grade to make it smooth? What's the best place to get small amounts of sandpaper?

Hobby shops will sell small amounts of sandpaper. Home Depot also sell individual sheets in most locations. They also sell assortment packs.

Do note that sanding only makes plastic shiny in some cases and takes quite a while.

It depends on how smooth you want it to be.

400 or 600 grit may work for you. If you want it smoother, you can get much finer grit sandpaper. I have 2000 & 3000 grit sandpaper.

Go to the hardware store and ask. You want emery paper.
