Why are there so many different types on Christianity?
So I'm an atheist but am interested in the Christian faith. I like the stories for the most part and like watching Bible Flock Box. And in the comments I've been seeing basically every type of Christian squabbling about who's going to hell. You all follow the same book. Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Lutheranism the list goes on. I'm not including Mormonism in this cause that's just crazy (magic underwear). But can you please explain to me why you hate each other so much. I always ask in the comments and they always reply with " I don't hate them. I'm just trying to show them the error of their ways." Why don't you just follow the entire bible to the best of your ability all be called Christians and end it there.
I'm not converting. I like atheism. I just enjoy the stories in the christian bible. Makes for a good read.

So many people are hung up on the type of church they go to when in reality the type of church you go to has little to do with it (as long as they are teaching basic fundamentals of Christianity and not a cult).
But the vast majority of Christians go to mainstream churches and nowhere in the bible does it say that only Baptists or Catholics or Pentecostals go to heaven.
No.
What it does say is(for those who have put their faith in Christ):
that the one who endures to the end will be saved
Those who are doers of the word and not hearers only will be justified before God
True followers of Christ will deny themself, take up their cross and follow Jesus

Their all the same, and teach towards the same goal: keeping its followers to sheep level. Seriously, do yourself a favor and don't chose the Christian faith. There are many different religions that can benefit you much more than it, though most have been severely corrupted form their original intent. Don't let the numbers fool you, Christianity didn't gain all its followers form truth and peace. Quite the opposite really, they slaughtered millions then lied to the surviving population's offspring to keep the lus going.

The Bible tells us why.
1Cor 3:1 Brothers, I couldn’t speak to you as to spiritual, but as to fleshly, as to babies in Christ. 3:2 I fed you with milk, not with meat; for you weren’t yet ready. Indeed, not even now are you ready, 3:3 for you are still fleshly. For insofar as there is jealousy, strife, and factions among you, aren’t you fleshly, and don’t you walk in the ways of men? 3:4 For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you fleshly?
Division is caused by spiritual immaturity coupled with being "fleshly" (i.e. worldly or unspiritual). Even just labeling oneself different from others was considered spiritually immature, but denominations pride themselves on such labels. The first disciples were simply called Christians; however now, labels such as Baptist, Catholic, Episcopalian, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons and Lutheran are the order of the day. How can you even talk about "unity" (Eph 4:3) when you're dealing with spiritually immature and carnal-minded people who want to label themselves differently than you?

Most don't hate each other, they just think they and their own denomination is the right one.
You have to remember it's been 2,000 years since Jesus was alive. Splits occurred for a lot of reasons.
I'm a Baha'i, a member of the Baha'i Faith. We believe there is only one God, that sent Buddha, Jesus, Moses, etc to humanity, now Baha’u’llah has come.

Because none of them agree nor is the Truth or the doctrine of Christ to be found in the midst of this confusion! All you can do is to go to a church that believes in some way that Jesus is God and learn to study the Bible from them. When you have learned enough you then get on your knees until God calls you.

Anyone can think they have a better,or just different view on religion,& start a church,& call it whatever they want.
There's no law against it.
It's not just Christianity.
There's multiple types of Satan churches, pagan god churches,
atheist churches (Don't say there isn't.),etc,etc.
There's hundreds of types (sects) just within the Catholic Churches alone.
L.Ron Hubbard wanted to create a church just to get rich,& avoid paying taxes (he openly admitted to this);Which he did, with the church of
Scientology.
So,you see, anyone anywhere can start up a church.
Hope I helped.

The religious people who had Jesus tortured to death also REALLY believed they were doing God's work.
The way to God is through Jesus - the person.
Any organization that makes the claim that you need Jesus PLUS them to get to heaven is not from God. Jesus is all you need.
God hates religion... and so do I.

You appeal for them to follow the Bible yet do not take your own advice.
How so?
Should you not rather follow Jesus Christ as revealed through the Bible and not be distracted by all those others, who do not and who squabble?
After all, the objections that you might raise could validly be raised by those others too, could they not?
Not to contradict your valid point that all should follow for themselves, just saying that also applies to you.

each sect took some specific thing they liked and fully focused on that one thing and disregarded the rest, not to mention added some of their own traditions and rules along the way, and that is how it came to be.
Now they all argue about who is right and who is wrong, fact is they all have some things right and lots of things wrong.
The problem is that none actually really care for God or what the Bible says, they only care for their own teaching and their own understanding, it is the same as the Pharisees in Jesus's time, whom Jesus constantly called out for their hypocrisy.

We don't want Christians to follow their book to their best of their ability, the subsequent bloodbath would surpass anything we have experienced before. The Bible isn't the benign "love your neighbor" dictates Christians like to pretend it is publicly while they commit their atrocities secretly, it is a hate filled diatribe against anyone who dares to believe anything slightly out of the norm. In that way it is pretty much like all of the other religious texts used by all of the other religions.

The apostasy began many centuries ago, just as Jesus said it would. And all the churches are part of it. The Bible doesn't teach a literal hell of torment. The whole world hates Christians.
Should we expect that apostates will arise within the Christian congregation?
1 Tim. 4:1: “The inspired utterance says definitely that in later periods of time some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired utterances and teachings of demons.”
2 Thess. 2:3: “Let no one seduce you in any manner, because [the day of Jehovah] will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness gets revealed, the son of destruction.”
Some identifying marks of apostates—
They seek to make others their followers, thus causing sectarian divisions
Acts 20:30: “From among you yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves.”
2 Pet. 2:1, 3: “There will also be false teachers among you. These very ones will quietly bring in destructive sects and will disown even the owner that bought them . . . Also, with covetousness they will exploit you with counterfeit words.”
They may profess to believe in Christ but treat lightly the preaching and teaching work he assigned to his followers
Luke 6:46: “Why, then, do you call me ‘Lord! Lord!’ but do not do the things I say?”
Matt. 28:19, 20: “Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them . . . teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.”
Matt. 24:14: “This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.”
