Do Electoral College fans understand that California still has more effect on the Presidential Election than the 14 least populated states?

Or do they really think Republicans would not campaign harder in California if they thought they had a shot at the "liberal utopia's" 55 votes.

First off, California used to be a Red state up until fairly recently (I think it swapped to Blue around Reagan's time.)

Second, republicans are trying *VERY HARD* to change California law so that California is no longer a "winner takes all" state, but would allocate electoral college votes based on the outcome (as 2 or 3 other states already do.)

Third, getting rid of the electoral college would basically be the end of the GOP since the nation's largest 10 cities are home to over 50% of the nation's population, and therefore would be the focal points of the presidential campaigns. If anything this would give California even MORE sway over the nation's politics because between L.A. and San Francisco and their surrounding areas, you're talking about 15-20% of the nation's total voting population. Then you have New York City and its surrounding areas, Chicago and its suburbs, Detroit, Miami, Las Vegas, and so on. Each of these cities is home to more voters than most of the Western and South Western states, combined.

So...ban the Electoral College? Go ahead! I'd love to see the look on the faces of the GOP as they suddenly realize they're never, ever, going to win another presidential race. And as the demographics of the population change, they're essentially going to go extinct. Good riddance.

Not a fan of the electoral college. As it is there is way to much weight given to tiny populations of rural voters while the majority of Americans who live in cities and not the prarie have their votes drowned out by an archaic system designed to protect SLAVERY!

Well.... Genius...... Looks like it wasn't needed. Just like the people that occupy that state aren't needed.

Mexifornians think they will just move out of state when their debt gets so high that neither they nor Mexico can make the interest payments on it. But we will extend the wall around Mexifornia also and not allow them to flee their responsibilities.

Then why are you complaining about it if you obviously have an advantage?
