Ring generalship, who is forcing or controlling the round, clean punches but I tend to score the most effective punches. Effective body work and defense ability to slip, parry and counter. Legal points, Head forward of the ears and body blows above the navel. I give more credit to hooks to the body than jabs. I like to see a boxer control his opponent with effective aggression. I score power punches higher than jabs unless they are power jabs that do damage. I try never to score a 10-10 round. I had the Ward Kovalez II fight scored the same as Weisfield through 7. I gave more credit for harder more damaging blows.

I split the round up so I'm scoring each minute and then the fighter who wins two minutes wins the round providing there are no knockdowns or point deductions.

My number one concern is punches landed. This isn't just me looking at what fighter a landed on fighter b but also how many fighter a couldn't land on fighter b because of fighter b's defensive skills and of course how many fighter b was able to land.

I also want to see who is being positive and who is being negative with positivity being favoured.

Power punches landed are worth more than jabs punch for punch.

Knockdowns are scored as per the direction of the referee with no exceptions. I don't usually give a 10-8 round to a fighter who was dominant but failed to score a knockdown either. Point deductions are taken as per the direction of the referee with no exceptions.

As for what's legal, anything on the face, shoulders, arms or torso. Anything on or above the belt line which the referee declared OK at the start of the fight, is legal. Basically, anything the referee doesn't call a foul is legal unless it's something blatant like a rabbit punch that he missed.
