Well, the obvious answer is that hes not innocent. But he could also be innocent. If he is innocent then the investigations might be particularly galling to him. We know that he is worried that they undermine the legitimacy of his presidency. He could actually believe some of his rhetoric that its a witch hunt conducted by political enemies who are sore losers.

If Trump is innocent he would not be asking the investigators to stop the Russian investigation. Trump has been working too hard at blaming and attacking the people who have been investigating him. Now, Donald is trying to undermine Robert Muller claiming that Comey and Muller "are very, very good friends".

So what if they are friends, their reputations are impeccable while Trump hasn't told the truth in his entire life. If the evidence shows that Trump is a liar and a traitor he should suffer the consequences.
