Do I owe IRS money?

I keep getting calls, an automated message, from different numbers early on in the day about the IRS having a warrant for my arrest. I never spoke with anyone, never got a letter, email, nothing. Just some automated message from different numbers.

I'm trying to contact IRS but it's taking FOREVER.

No. The IRS does not use automated messages and they do not mention warrants on the phone. This is a message that can be sent only if it is not true. Even if you actually owed and there was a warrant, the IRS would not say so on the phone or in an automated message.

There are two words to describe these calls and the first one is bull. Ignore them.

It's a scam. I used to get those before I ever had a job or taxes to pay.

It's a scam. My sister was also getting a lot of calls pretending to be the IRS. The IRS will never call you.

Did you get your refund already. If you did then you don't owe anything. If you owe money the IRS is not going to give you a refund. A few years ago, Obama gave us a tax break and I missed reporting it on my tax return and the IRS sent me my refund along with a letter saying that I missed the tax break so I'm getting a lot more than I anticipated.

    This is a SCAM.

The IRS does not EVER phone you. They contact you by mail or through the legal system (court summons or warrant for your arrest).

Don't talk to the people calling and don't give them any money or your credit card information.
