Because this is the world wide web and anyone can answer.

Because the English portals are all interconnected.

Yahoo had a YA for each country covered, but that took a separate staff for each site. To cut staff, they merged them into one English language site and staff.

They did a while ago, there was a website for every country but most people ignored them.

Nowadays, it is just one website where all English people come together... the only problem is, it means that when you see words like "realize" and "realise" or "color" or "colour" you will have OCD/ eagle-eyed people trying to correct your spelling.

Not everyone lives in America! Not everyone lives in the UK! But you always have people who DON'T understand this.

it does have a separate section for US and UK,

but fools don't bother using them,

you get a lot of Australian questions on the UK answers too.

scroll down to the bottom of this page.

then click on international, (bottom left)

if you are on UK answers then the US option is visible and vice versa.
