Concert Photography Lenses For Beginners?

I have a Canon T6 and a 50mm f/1.8 lens and it s working pretty great but I think I m ready to purchase a new lens. I m very frugal so I m trying to stay on the cheap side.. any suggestions? The "cheap side" to new is at least $200 but $300 is probably max for right now.

How close can you get to the stage? If not close, a telephoto lens would be a good recommendation. As has been stated, concerts are dark. So a wide aperture is best. However, wide aperture telephoto lenses are out of your price range. It might be best to stick with what you have. For more popular bands, your biggest impediment will be the venue's photography policy. The bigger the lens, the more "professional" your camera will look and the more likely you will be prevented from bringing it in without having media credentials. If you're talking about garage bands in pubs, then your 50mm is just fine.

On a budget you won't do better than a 50 f1.8 for a low light situation like a concert...... assuming they'll let you in with an advanced camera to take photos. Or is this an amateur show?

It's the f1.8 that's important and lets you have a reasonably fast shutter speed without pushing the ISO.
