Does everyone who's mentally ill need psych meds?
I have mental illnes, and I can't take psych meds. They ****** me up bad in the past, so I stopped taking them. And I'm sensitive to it. But does everyone need to? Am I the only one?

No not at all.
I have anxiety, but its mild, and the meds I have been given are overkill.
I know what can bring on more anxiety, so I stay out of those situations.
Some people really need medication, and some people don't.

Sometimes the side effects are worse than the condition being teated.
There are natural remedies for some things, like ashwagandha for anxiety.

Different Meds do different things to different people.
If they can find a cognitive treatment plan that works well for them, that can sometimes prove to be a better alternative to medicine.

Not always. It depends what it is that you struggle with. Obviously medicine can't help something such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder since meds don't help someone be more calm and willing to listen. They especially won't help ODD if it's caused by damage to the temporal lobe, a common cause of ODD.
It all depends what you are being treated for. You should be asking if there are other forms of treatment since meds you've taken in the past have had bad side effects(I'm assuming) on you, but again, it depends what it is you struggle with.
Something else to keep in mind is that there is a difference mental and psychological conditions.
