I'm Muslim and performed a Christian prayer, does this make me a nonbeliever?

This was a time when I wasn t praying but now I am re-establishing the prayer and performing salah 5x a day on a daily basis. I m certain that prayer was invalid since it was improper does it make me a nonbeliever and do I have to retake my shahadah? If I do, it s okay, I m willing to do anything for Allah. I only did that one time because I was already out of practice and was lazy to perform proper salat and had forgotten the Al-fatiha. I noticed that my life has been garbage the last 2 years when I had abandoned the prayer. Bad stuff happened left and right to me so frequently and all people said was it's jist life. Now, I'm returning to the prayer not only to expect my life the be better but to prove my faith to Allah.

Salam No it would not make you a non believer but you must ask for Allah's forgiveness and repent so Allah will accept it and you will be forgiven. You do not need to say shahadah again because in every your prayer you will say shahadah too.Alhamdulillah now you have performed prayer 5 times a day properly so you will be blessed by Allah.Ameen

Assalamualaikum, Muslims are in the Ramadan section of yahoo answers so move your question there using the edit button like this: society and culture > holidays > Ramadan.

To answer your question, if you did a Christian prayer then just say the shahada again just in case, but yeah when you did that prayer you became a disbeliever, and some scholars state that giving up the salat is disbelief as well.

However if you repent to Allah ta'ala and mend your conduct, then Allah ta'ala forgives all sins except shirk (if you die committing shirk). So repent, don't ever do it again, seek refuge in Allah ta'ala from laziness, ask him to renew and increase your faith daily (since faith gets worn out as you have proven), and so on and so forth.

You should gain knowledge, read the Noble Quran with Ibn kathirs Tafsir (you can find it on google), this will help you understand your religion more.

You should also read fatwas, some fatwa sites below:

    islamqa.info

    islamqa.org

    islamweb.net

These sites are good (you can find them in english on google) for receiving guidance on matters you aren't sure about, check them out. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me, and ignore disbelievers, we do not take advice about Islam from them.

    wa salam.
