Would Liberals prefer a system where government controls all your healthcare decisions?

That's not it at all. Liberals prefer a system where doctors control healthcare decisions ... That being said, I'd prefer a system where government of, by, and for the people controls my options for healthcare over leaving that decision to a for-profit-insurer to determine how much my life is worth to them ... Single payer is the best way to go. It's far cheaper and produces better outcomes than choosing to let private insurance companies determine what they'll pay for and what they won't.

Americans love Medicare and Medicaid. And public health care systems are ranked more effective and more popular in dozens of other nations.

Health insurance corporations do not care about you. They want to deny you care so they can save money for their shareholders. Most of whom are incredibly wealthy.

Nobody has ever suggested that. MEDICARE is just another HEALTH INSURANCE company... 'the government' doesn't make any medical decisions as long as treatment isn't so hare brained swindle. Why do you believe that its some other way? Where did you first hear that?

If you don't like your government, you can vote it out. If you don't like your insurance, tough luck.

And before you go on some bullshit tirade about 'competition' and all that nonsense- have you seen all guys available...they're all equally shite. And they compete to make their service even more shite to skimp out on your medical bills and get more of your money.

That's not what "single payer" means.

By the way: if you have employer-based insurance, your boss gets to decide what kind of health care is covered. I like that even less than government specified minimums.

If I had to decide between the government controlling my healthcare decisions or some for-profit only health care corporation doing it?

    I would choose the government.

But that is not what a single payer system is.

    Apparently.

No. We prefer a system where you can go to doctors and get treated and everything is paid for through tax dollars.

Those decisions always will be made by doctors. Rarely will a doctor be part of government. Yes, a single payer system is good, but the taxes to support it are too high, as in Canada where they pay 50% of income into taxes for their great healthcare system.

Obamacare needs fixing - nobody argues that. Even the geniuses at Apple and Microsoft have to roll out updates every few months because no matter how well you design something in a lab, when it gets out into the real world you will have to fine-tune it. That's all these idiots had to do. Instead they decided to level the building, rip out the foundations and "start over" again, even though the most ardent GOP voter can tell you at this point they will never start anything and are happy to feed us to the insurance companies as fodder.

I'll bet my black @$$ that Boehner is chuckling in glee somewhere in a tanning bed. GOP has lost the social pulse in this country - they got smacked by the fact that the perception whether healthcare is a right or a privilege has changed in this country, they're still in 2009 mode and gape around, unable to process it. Combine that with the disaster that is Trump and you don't need to be psychic to see how the next 3.5 years will go.
