Theoretically, you should be able to take a walk within a few days of surgery, and commence brisk walking within a couple of weeks. Remember, your lungs have been deprived of oxygen and you needed to do deep breathing exercises to help them regain their capacity. The damaged portions of your heart need to heal and strengthen, and this can be done with upper torso exercises and light weight training. Every person is different, and it is always wise not to push it, as well as not to coddle it.
