Was I right to kick my bf out because he walked away from me like he was scared of me after I told a joke he didn t like?

My bf of 6mths opened my trunk to put his laundry in and saw a blanket with old rust stains. He thought it was blood!!(idiot) I said theres no blood on that at 1st.He insisted it was .. So I joked and said yeah its from the body I put in there last night. Yeah i killed someone lastnight i said dry and sarcastically.we have been living together 2 mths. He said i dont play like that he immediately got on his phone to call his dad to get him. I have been nothing but nice to him helping him get on his feet. I don t charge him rent. Its whatever he can pay like utilities..I normally don t joke like that. I have a10 yrs son..why would he believe I wasnt joking

Thanks for your answer.. He is 2 years younger he has his own car but it broke down last night..I drove an hour to get him. I always help him. I never jerk him around and treat him less than a man.but I did think he was an idiot for not knowing the difference between an old 5 year old rust stain on a white down comforter from FRESH BLOOD!

It sounds like he was looking for a reason to leave. It also sounds like you're too old for him. If you have your own 10-year-old son and your boyfriend can't even pay rent and still calls his dad for rides, that boyfriend's not age appropriate for you. He resents being jerked around and condescended like a child because he is a child--and that joke of yours was condescending. It was like saying, "You're stupid and silly for asking what's up with that blanket." You even put "idiot" in parentheses, so it probably came across loud and clear in your tone that you think he's an idiot. If that had been me, I'd have left too, but I'd probably have said "f*ck you" as I did.
