The first source is an account of doing it for a 1999, but I understand the mechanism has changed through the years. (I think the cable is thinner now!) Be aware the site is primarily for political venting, but you can certainly ask questions about the repair and options.
Siennachat can probably help you as well. Power door cable problems are very common and maddening.
