Beginning Deathcore Band. Looking For Advice.?

A friend and I have been talking about starting a band for some time now, but only recently we have gotten serious about actually forming a band and recording music.

We have:

-Vocalist (My friend)

-Potential drummer (Will only join if he knows the band is serious)

-Guitarist (Me)

I have a problem though. I can't play **** on guitar. I have a guitar that can play the kind of metal we are planning on, but I have no experience whatsoever. Where should I start? What bands have good riffs I could start learning to get a feel for deathcore?

I've also never performed live before. What is it like? How can I not be awkward on stage when the time comes for life performance?

Any other tips or advice?

Thanks in advance.

You have taken the first step in coming up with the idea for a band. But your going to need to have members prior to staring anything, without members you dont have a band. You are also going to need a bassist as well. As for you not being able to play **** on guitar may or may not be a problem, it depends on all of the other members of the band. They may or may not care, having members that are way ahead of you in terms of skills may not be the best the best thing. They may get frustrated and bored and quit before you get anywhere. But having members that are beginners is not necessarily the way to go either. You need to find the right balance. As strange as this sounds you will know if you have the right balance. Everything will click when it does. As for performing just have fun and remember that with each show you do it gets easier. As for bands to pull from, try Thy Art is Murder, Nights Like These.
