Can someone explain the terminology? Alt right, neo-nazi, etc. It seems that they are slurs and not accurate.?

And, if they are slur names, is it used to be offensive. Is it OK for a politically correct person to call someone by a slur name and then object to some other person using a slur name for someone else. For example the n word. Shouldn't the news media use the terminology that a particular group has used to identify themselves, whatever it is. About the only correct identifying word in all of this is hypocrisy.

There is a difference between stereotyping a member of a group, especially by something they were born with, and describing someone's behavior in negative terms. If you, for example, steal something, I can call you a "thief" because that's an action you chose to do. So if a person expresses an alt-right or neo-nazi idea, they have identified themselves that way. That's different from the "n"word because it was used to denigrate a group of people, not based on choices they made, but on the skin color they were born with.

Describing racist terrorists by their political beliefs does not seem the same as using ethnic slurs, but it's nice that you have such concern for their tender sensitivities for some reason.
