In the previous answers, there are lots of lies and distortions. There are no climate refugees. It is another ridiculous lie from eco-fascists who think they own science. They don't. These clueless bozos claimed that the earth would warm so much people would flee hot places. In fact the slight warming that we would have from increased CO2 would warm the cold areas much more making winter, night and polar temperatures more bearable. Permafrost always melts in warmer times. Those who build on permafrost are likely to have their house sink because it is an unstable place to build a house. Jesus warned over 2000 years ago about the foolish builder who doesn't build his house on a strong foundation. It was a metaphor but it was still obvious even thousands of years ago. Sadly we have lots of foolish builders, those who build in marginal places. There are islands that are ephemeral and form from sands pushed by currents. There are those that are built up by coral reefs that are too shallow to withstand storms. Showing these marginal places isn't evidence for AGW. It is evidence that AGW eco-fascists will lie and exaggerate about anything to help their cause.

There are no Pacific Islanders that have to relocated. There are those trying to extort money from idiotic guilt ridden leftists who are more than willing to give them other people's money. In fact many of their islands that they claimed were "sinking" are actually rising.

I think it was a racist attempt by alarmist to scare Europeans and North American rubes that dark people from tropical places would invade their homes unless we ceded power and money to them. You would have to be a complete dunce to fall for stupidity and lies like that but it apparently isn't all that difficult to fool alarmists. They want to be fooled. There are some like James who should know better but since he wants to help his leftist cause, he gladly and proudly lies for them more like a slick ambulance chasing lawyer than a scientist interested in facts.

Think of all the people that left the Great Plains states during the Dust Bowl years, those were climate refugees.

people who deniers should have to pay for their relocation since it's deniers' fault not theirs

People that have to move because of climate changes. E.g., in some Pacific island countries that are really low - as sea levels are rising, their lands are being flooded out, forcing them to move elsewhere.

In Northern Canada, permafrost is melting, and houses are sinking into it. If this happens, people have to move. And, it is happening, although people usually just get their houses fixed. As melting gets more severe, this may become impossible.

Interesting the person who claimed "it never happened." Not in the wild numbers that newspapers like to give in their attempts to be dramatic, but, it has happened. Even my own house is sinking, and, there are climate refugees living in New Zealand right now.

Climate refugee is a vague term for a real phenomenon.

As usual, anti-science dupe Kano sounds off cluelessly here.

    1. The UN predicted millions of "environmental refugees," not "climate refugees."

    2. Refugees are indeed now at record levels. If Kano would read a normal newspaper instead of indiscriminately soaking up and worshipping any crackpot anti-science blog he can find, he might learn that refugees have been pouring out of Africa and the Mideast and into Europe in recent years. Only the willfully ignorant will pretend that climate change has nothing to do with this. (There are of course also other factors; the universe is only monocausal in the delusion of conspiracy theory nutbars and the uninformed).

    3. The risk of increased refugee flows is real, is taken very seriously by the Pentagon and by security think tanks, and was cited in the awarding of the Nobel Peace prize to the IPCC in 2007, and it is idiotic to pretend that climate disruption (also reliably predicted by virtually the entire scientific community to most likely worsen seriously in coming decades), will not play a major role.

What makes "climate refugees" a problematic term has nothing to do with the cultish nonsense peddled by the movement to deny science, its hangers-on, and dupes. Rather the word is simplistic and misleading because climate is only one of many factors impelling refugees to flight in growing numbers, and it is nearly always only an indirect factor.

People do not run in fear for their lives because they are in terror about the climate. Refugees flee because the economic difficulties resulting from harsher weather and other side effects of climate change help make failed states more failed, dictatorships more brutal, extremism more virulent, armed conflict more protacted and violent, etc. Military strategists have been well aware of this for years. Ignorant anti-science retired engineers brainwashed by the denial cult are not.

Climate refugees, they have to leave their country because of climate, droughts, heatwaves or flooding from sea level rise.

The UN predicted we would have ten million climate refugees but 2010, IT NEVER HAPPENED.

climate refugees are sickness, money expenditure and lack of entertaiment.

I am guessing an individual forced to immigrate to another territory because his or her current location is unsafe due to climate change.
