Should the Notting Hill Carnival be relocated to Hyde Park each year?

Mainly for safety reasons.

No way. Take it away from its parent area and it would lose its identity. Put it in Hyde Park and it would just become another bland 'family fun day' which are ten a penny at this time of year. The last thing London needs is another uniform sprog-fest cluttered up with push chairs.

And of safety reasons? The carnival is very safe. I go every year and haven't ever seen even a jot of trouble. It's very well-marshalled, has well delineated parade routes and pedestrian through routes. There are plenty of police and paramedics on duty, and it now has barriers across its entrances to prevent vehicular attacks.

Look at the figures. 1 million people attend each year and generally, 1 thieving gang member will get stabbed by a rival gang. Hardly unsafe. Police are generally low-key (to silence the whiny David Lammy types) and any trouble tends to be from a majority of drunk idiots, which you would get in Hyde Park just as easily.

Keep it as it is: a celebration of Caribbean London.

No - Hyde Park is for the people and not a carnival. The Notting Hill Carnival is a celebration of all that is Afro-Caribbean and it should continue where it is. What needs to be done is to involve the people in the area in protecting their own event, more 'marshals' just as we have at football grounds. Local folk etc.

The one thing we do not want is for the Notting Hill Carnival to become some watered down white dominated load of crap, which is exactly what will happen if it's moved to anywhere outside of the present route and location.

There is a major difference between such as 'Proms in the Park' and the Notting Hill Carnival - 'Proms in the Park' is multi-ethnic blah and etc. NHC is not.

The current location of the carnival is no longer safe. Unless a new location is found that can handle the volume of participants deaths related to overcrowding will occur

No. Hyde Park is just a park. a supposedly quiet place for the enjoyment of peace and nature

How do you work out it would make it safer. Hyde Park is a much smaller area than Notting hill.

It should be relocated to Jamaica.
