That depends upon state law. Some states require you to be paid immediately if you are terminated without notice or if you quit with a stated notice (typically 2 weeks). Others have different standards. If it's not addressed by state law (and it isn't in a number of states) you must be paid no later than the next regularly scheduled payday for the period for the period that you worked.

There is no federal law on this so there is no single answer that will apply to all locations.
