Can you just adopt a squirrel?

If I just wanna grab a squirrel, raccoon or skunk from a public parc to become my best friend, is just taking him legal?

    No, it's illegal. Wild animals are the property of the state you live in. So it depends on the type of animal and the laws both federal and local laws.

    It is generally not legal to keep wild animals as pets.

    It's ill advised, being that they are wild animals. Raccoons can inflict severe injury from teeth and claws, and can kill similar sized dogs and/or cats. If you have ever smelled a skunk spray you would not want to come near one.
