No, it's illegal. Wild animals are the property of the state you live in. So it depends on the type of animal and the laws both federal and local laws.

It's ill advised, being that they are wild animals. Raccoons can inflict severe injury from teeth and claws, and can kill similar sized dogs and/or cats. If you have ever smelled a skunk spray you would not want to come near one.
