I think that saying only pertains to talking religion or politics with people you know.
When you're talking to strangers on the internet, it's a lot easier to speak your mind without having to worry about too much blowback.

Yes.
America's racial and political problems are kind of like that "pervy uncle" who molests children that no one wants to acknowledge because it's so embarrassing and uncomfortable to talk about.
Instead, everyone ignores him because other than being a pedofile he's still "a good person."
No, he isn't. He is very SICK and so is America!
Ignoring the "pervy uncle" is the same thing as consent.
Adults are supposed to PROTECT CHILDREN. Racism and ideological conflicts, just like that pervy uncle are hurting children and the future of America as the land of Liberty and Justice for All. Adults are once again falling down on their most important job!

Only at the dinner table.
At least that's what my mom told us.
She would say,
"No talk of religion or politics at the dinner table, I want this to be a peaceful meal"

It should be evidence that people's strongly held political beliefs will not change because some one with an opposing viewpoint yelled an insult at them.
The only thing about this site that attracts me is the unending stream of bullshlt and false information conservative trolls pump out endlessly. Can't let all that bullshlt go unchallenged.

Yes, in the sense that you shouldn't discuss these issues in POLITE company. Otherwise go to a rally with demonstrators where these types of conversations are quite popular, I understand.
