There is a product out there, I cannot recall the name, but it is a spray that softens the caulk, so you can peel, or scrape it out. I got mine at Lowes. They will know what it is, and what you need when you go. I would bet Home Depot has it as well.

You need special silicone remover. Something like Silikill.

WD 40 is fish oil and it will not cut that putty .... a good thing to have in your work shed is "" automotive paint thinner"" as it is not harmful to your skin [[ just wash after use/or contact .. it cuts more than plain paint thinner ....

putty knife and a lot of scraping. follow with harsh scrubber and gritty cleanser. You only have to get it clean enough to take a fresh ring of plumber's putty for the reinstall.
