Why aren't there more dental hygenist?

I've been thinking of going to school and my community college offers a dental hygenist program and after looking at it l, they make about 70k a year, flexible schedules, and they always need more people. Not to mention all you need is an associates degree. Basically my question is, why aren't more people going into this field?

    1. A hygienist making $70K would have a Bachelor's degree, not just an Associate's degree.

    2. As the other user said, some people can't imagine putting their fingers, gloved or not, into someone else's mouth.

    3. It can be hard on your body - to sit in the "hunched over a patient" position all day and carpal tunnel is common from holding and using the instruments.

Bc it's hard work to get there, and I'd HATE to put my hand in people's mouths.
