Theoretically, how would one REprogram a high functioning robot?

Let's say there was a hominoid robot, with moderate cognitive function, that was primary used as a weapon in war. Let's say this robot was "killed" in battle, in the enemy's territory. Let's say after this battle, the enemy collected the robot, repaired it's exterior and interior, then attempted to reprogram the robot so that it would be subservient to them instead. How might this work? Let's say.

A robot is just a computer with a bunch of mechanisms and sensors attached to it.

A computer runs a series of programs.

Programs are just files stored on the computer.

We program and reprogram computers all the time simply by changing or overwriting these files. For example, my computer used to run Windows 8, then I ran the upgrade and now it's been upgraded - reprogrammed one might say - to run Windows 10. My computer can't run MS Word - that program doesn't exist on its hard drive.

So reprogramming a robot wouldn't be any different.

If you just changed the targets by 180 degrees, which in computer code usually just is changing a sign from the negative to the positive, terrestrial warfare should be done.

Inerterstellar might have some more geometry.
