What happens to smoke when it's kept in an airtight container for a long period of time?

It condenses on the walls and darkens the walls. I use a woodfire stove for cooking and over time the walls of the house become darkened as a result of the small leaks from the door when it is opened to put in wood.

Smoke tinted glass used to be a commercial product.

Basically the smoke has a short range electrostatic attraction to surfaces. Which is what ultimately causes lung cancer in cigarette smokers. The smoke attaches to the lungs and stays there rather than being breathed out.
